Figo award in recognition of women obstetricians/gynaecologists
13 Luglio 2011
You may recall that, at each FIGO World Congress of Gynecology and Obstetrics since 1997, FIGO has recognised publicly women gynaecologists and obstetricians who in their daily practice or in their research laboratories have contributed significantly to the improvement of health care for women.
I am delighted to inform you that the Executive Board of FIGO has decided to continue this award at the XX FIGO World Congress being held in Rome, Italy in October 2012 on the understanding that awards will be made predominantly to women practitioners from low- and middle- income countries/territories. The purpose of this message is therefore to ask your society whether it wishes to nominate a candidate for a FIGO Award in Recognition of Women Obstetricians/Gynaecologists.
Should you be able to identify a candidate who has made a special contribution internationally or nationally to promote the development of science and scientific research in the fields of gynaecology and obstetrics, and who, throughout her career, has promoted better health care for women, mothers and their children, please complete the enclosed Nomination Form and return it to the FIGO Secretariat to arrive NO LATER THAN 31 st OCTOBER 2011 . Late submissions will not be accepted.
Please note that previous recipients of this award are not eligible for inclusion and that only one nomination may be made by each FIGO member society.
Regrettably, FIGO is unable to provide financial assistance for award winners to attend the World Congress at which the awards ceremony will be held, but it is hoped that societies can either support their candidate\’s participation or identify a suitable sponsor who might be able to assist.
Your assistance in this important matter is greatly appreciated.
